Hi, As many of you know by now, I have been brought up to the Arch Linux Team mostly for the Arch Linux Newsletter. Since then I have also been interested in some packages, which I have adopted and maintained. But, nothing last forever, the time I had to do all this things have been reduced greatly, and will be reduced furthermore when this next University semester arrives, which hopefully will be my last. Between work and University, I am going to only have Saturday and Sunday to actually use my computer in the way I would like. But I have a fiancee leaving me with only Sunday free at the most. Because of this, I have come up with a plan, I will orphan all my packages, but wine I will keep. And will focus on the newsletter, though in a reduced mode, since (pending announcement) I plan to delegate more power to another developer. I will orphan: nautilus-sendto, libgphoto2, gphoto2, gtkam, libexif-gtk, and sbackup Also, I won't be fixing anymore bugs for those packages, none has bugs right now anyways. But wicd which I upgraded some time ago have one bug open, which I won't fix, since I don't have the time, nor the way of testing it anymore, so if you are so kind, remove the assignment to me from that bug. All things, said, I wish I can focus in improving the newsletter in ways I have always thought possible, but never put much attention to. Expect to hear more from me, and still be involved, I will still try to help as much as I can. This is not a "I will gradually leave" is a "Soon I'll be back even stronger". This fixes the broken ext4 detection in fstype and kinit, ext4 should now work out of the box with mkinitcpio. It also adds a patch to build against 2.6.28. The ABI version is unchanged, so no other packages need to be rebuilt.

With 2.6.28, the new wirless regulatory infrastructure is there. The above packages are in extra (libnl) or testing (iw, crda). If we want proper wireless support, we need these packages in core. It works like this: - Install crda - Uncomment the right country code in /etc/conf.d/wireless-regdom - Add wireless-regdom to your rc.conf DAEMONS and run /etc/rc.d/wireless-regdom start The kernel will now know on which frequencies you are allowed to send. Without this, you should only be able to access a small number of channels. The cfg80211_regdom kernel module option will be removed in 2.6.29 and should not be used anymore.

The parsing script didn't set CARCH previously, and the flashplugin PKGBUILD exited in this case. First override the exit function to prevent the whole script to exit, and add a --arch option to be able to set CARCH correctly. Hey guys, Looking for a signoff for libarchive 2.6.0. I had to apply one small patch to fix a problem I found running pactest on the pacman source, so it is fairly well-tested already. On another note- I compiled *without* LZMA support, which is now available as of this release. I would like to eventually compile this in, but it would require us to move the lzma-utils package to core. Any big objections to moving this in so libarchive can be compiled with LZMA support? -Dan
