[arch-dev-public] Problems to build kde3 packages

Hi all, Im trying to update tellico and im having a strange problem. When i do this command: [douglas@ingravitto ~]$ /opt/kde/bin/kde-config --prefix /opt/kde It works ok =) But inside the PKGBUILD, Fakeroot - it returns empty. I have been trying a lot of things but none of then worked. Thanks a lot

So I just got a bug report with a little comment at the bottom saying "shouldn't you be able to report 2009.02 as the version now?" I want to remove the versions from the ArchLinux project because it's totally irrelevant. Any issue with that? The Release Engineering project has release versions

I'm the current maintainer of man and man-pages packages. But this affects also all other packages that install any kind of man-pages: We have serious issues and some errors reported that are related to the man package. The current man package has problems with character encoding: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/7477 http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/9130 and probably with deeper links: http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch-dev-public/2009-February/010257.html http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch-dev-public/2009-January/010056.html Is there anybody who wants to take over the maintainance for all man related stuff? If not I'll do whatever we are going to decide but with relative low priority. For the encoding: Fedora does a recoding in almost every spec file. We could this this similar with a big afford and everybody would have to take care about it or don't care about it at all. man-db as a man replacement promises to solve this. http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch-dev-public/2008-December/009570.html and http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch-dev-public/2008-December/009581.html I'm almost for changing to man-db. We would just have to decide how to update the db. How is this currently done for "man"? In pacman? Could this be easily changed/added for man-db? [arch-dev-public] Moonlight in ArchLinux?

Hi, there were a discussion on the arch-general list about why not adding moonlight to the repo (http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch-general/2009-January/003326.html). Now I want to discuss this topic further from a developer point of view. I want your opinion about that topic, should we add moonlight to the extra repo? And please don't give answers like: "What do we want with this Micr**** shit?". We have closed source software like flashplayer in our repos, so why not add an open source product which do nearly the same (not seen as compatible to flash, instead nearly same technology, etc.). I would maintain it, because it belongs to mono (more or less). Hello devs, Today I was upgrading genius and found out it had dependencies on termcap-compat. Lookin in the configure file, it checks like this: checking for -ltermcap -> yes: link to -ltermcap, no: check for -lncurses I've seen some bugs last week that involved termcap-compat dependencies as a result of building on a system which is not clean (to the devs not doing it yet: build in chroots, not on your working system which is polluted with unneeded packages and AUR stuff). These bugs were fixed by actually adding these dependencies. Please don't add additional dependencies like this old deprecated termcap-compat package just because a bug was reported, but please check out if it's really needed as dependency and leave it out when possible.
