Signoff both, Allan * Changes in Wget 1.12 ** Mailing list MOVED to bug-wget(a)gnu.org ** SECURITY FIX: It had been possible to trick Wget into accepting SSL certificates that don't match the host name, through the trick of embedding NUL characters into the certs' common name. Fixed by Joao Ferreira <joao(a)joaoff.com>. ** Added support for CSS. This includes: - Parsing links from CSS files, and from CSS content found in HTML style tags and attributes. - Supporting conversion of links found within CSS content, when --convert-links is specified. - Ensuring that CSS files end in the ".css" filename extension, when --convert-links is specified. CSS support in Wget is thanks to Ted Mielczarek <ted.mielczarek(a)gmail.com>. ** Added support for Internationalized Resource Identifiers (IRIs, RFC 3987). When support is enabled (requires libidn and libiconv), links with non-ASCII bytes are translated from their source encoding to UTF-8 before percent-encoding. IRI support was added by Saint Xavier <wget(a)sxav.eu>, as his project for the Google Summer of Code. ** Wget now provides more sensible exit status codes when downloads don't proceed as expected (see the manual). ** --default-page option (and associated wgetrc command) added to support alternative default names for index.html. ** --ask-password option (and associated wgetrc command) added to support password prompts at the console. ** The --input-file option now also handles retrieving links from an external file. ** The output generated by the --version option now includes information on how it was built, and the set of configure-time options that were selected. ** --html-extension has been renamed to --adjust-extension, to reflect the fact that it now also applies to CSS content. --html-extension is still acceptable, but is now deprecated. ** An "ascii" specifier is now accepted by --restrict-file-names, which forces the percent-encoding of all non-ASCII bytes ** Several previously existing, but undocumented .wgetrc options are now documented: save_headers, spider, and user_agent, auth_no_challenge, and keep_session_cookies. Also added documentation for the "lowercase" and "uppercase" values for --restrict-file-names, which had been present since Wget 1.11.

Hey guys, Past week I was reading through the buildbot manual, but I decided not to use it. IMO it is far too complex, fat and not something which has the needed functionality easily available (you can extend it with python scripting, but what's the fun of that huh?) So yesterday I decided I will write my own. I'll give it some more though what functionality we need most (ability to prioritize tasks, manually adding tasks, getting changes from svn to name a few). So what do I need from you? - name (what's a tool without a name huh?) - git-repo (not direct, but sometime in the next two weeks or so. Maybe we need to first pick a name too) - ideas. What do you guys want to see first? How do we want to get notified (daily mail, using a webpage which lists success of all completed/pending tasks, something else)? You get the idea, now is the time to speak up. Ronald

Hi all, FS#12890 (http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/12890) suggests we clean up some crud from the base group. I started a wiki page back in July to look at doing this (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/User:Allan/Base_Cleanup), which should not be too outdated. The basic premise in my clean up was 1) remove "useless"/unneeded packages 2) remove packages that are in the base group only because they are dependencies of packages in the base group. An example for #2: no-one really wants to install libfetch apart from for use by pacman. Thus libfetch does not need to be part of the base group. That might be slightly controversial... but I think it makes sense. When I install, I look through the package lists and select the packages I need. I do not directly need libfetch but I do select pacman. Thus pacman is directly part of my base install but libfetch is only indirectly. I need opinions here. Does this make sense to people? Have my selections been too strict or not strict enough? Allan
