Consolidating our mkinitcpio hooks

Hi, Currently we have a lot of our mkinitcpio hooks in several packages which has never been consolidated. This makes it confusing where stuff belong and what is provided where, and I really want to consolidate everything. It would help keeping up the development of the hooks, patch everything and ultimately write a test suite for mkinitcpio. I also have long term plans on moving the default hooks from busybox to systemd, but this will happen at a later point. Initially I really want to move the hooks from `cryptsetup` and `systemd`: * encrypt and sd-encrypt from core/cryptsetup * systemd and udev from core/systemd We could maybe consider a few other hooks from [core] depending on peoples opinion? We are missing a good networking hook for systemd, and that should preferably be solved at some point. A list of possibly other relevant mkinitcpio stuff: Hook Package * btrfs btrfs-progs * dmraid dmraid * mdadm mdadm * mdadm_udev mdadm * lvm2 lvm2 * sd-lvm2 lvm2 * net mkinitcpio-nfs-utils * netconf mkinitcpio-netconf # Migration It's unclear to me how we should best move these hooks. We would need to merge them upstream into `mkinitcpio` first, then remove them from the packages. Is a news item is enough for this? bash 5.2.x status

Hi, yesterday anthraxx stated this: - major breakage in potentially a lot of scripts including pacman, dbscripts, devtools and who knows what kind of packages. I tried devtools with 5.2.15 and fixed the only thing I ran into, with this MR: https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/devtools/-/merge_requests/133 shopt handling seems to have changed a bit. I would like to proceed in getting latest bash version into our distribution. Adding bash 5.2.x to staging or testing repository and start fixing eventually borken stuff. Hello everybody, we already had a pre-release of systemd in out testing repositories when I was surprised with another bugfix release in stable branch. Thus pulling the pre-release (254rc2-1) for now, and pushing 253.7-1. ## packaging We have now enabled all packagers to have default access to the multilib and unstable desktop (GNOME/KDE) repositories. This decision removes artificial gates and simplifies the process for packagers to contribute to different aspects of the distro's packaging. By granting wider access by default, we encourage easier participation and collaboration within our distro packaging team. ## devtools We released version `v1.0.3` of devtools which focused on bug fixes. This release addresses the issue of broken packaging repos for newly added packages by ensuring that the actual PKGBUILD is always version controlled. Additionally, we implemented the functionality to skip unofficial architectures, providing better support for building AUR packages with `pkgctl`. ## arch-boxes Starting with the `v20230601` release, arch-boxes images now include x64 UEFI support in addition to legacy BIOS. The GRUB boot loader is used for both UEFI and BIOS systems, ensuring a consistent implementation across different hardware configurations. This is a great enhancement that allows using arch-boxes images on UEFI-based systems. ## ArchISO In the `archlinux-2023.06.01-x86_64.iso` release, the mDNS responder of systemd-resolved is now enabled by default. This improvement enhances the user experience by simplifying network connections during the installation process. This enables convenient connectivity to the live environment via SSH from the local network without the need to know the IP address. Users can simply use the mDNS hostname `archiso.local`. The ArchWiki article ["Install Arch Linux via SSH"][0] has been updated to include a helpful tip with the appropriate command. ## container images Arch Linux's container images are now published to multiple registries. In addition to DockerHub, the images are also pushed to [Quay.io][1] and [GitHub Container registry][2]. This wider distribution ensures availability of the image across multiple platforms and helps mitigate the risk of a single point of failure. Users can now access the Arch Linux container images from their preferred registry, offering greater flexibility and redundancy. ## Specification effort for .BUILDINFO files With the [alpm-buildinfo][3] project, a Rust-based specification effort for the `.BUILDINFO` files found in ALPM packages has been started. The implementation for version 1 of the file is currently in review. Stepping down

Hi folks I've not been able to update any of my packages in a couple of months and unfortunately I don't see the situation resolving itself any time soon with my life being busier than ever. Vacation until August

Yo! I'll be taking a break in July. Have a couple of weeks vacation before starting new work in August and need a bit of time to reset. I'm not going to look at package updates, bugreports, respond to stuff and misc other responsebilities I have during this time. However, if I'm blocking someone on something please do reach out.
