We are searching for additional helping hands on our GitLab. Offering sources for thousands of packages requires triaging (and sometimes closing) the many issues that users report over time. As a bug wrangler you would be helping the distribution with triaging tickets across all package source repositories and assigning them to relevant package maintainers, as well as closing invalid ones and/or investigating the topics at hand (if applicable). This volunteer work requires familarity with GitLab, an understanding of packaging on Arch Linux, perseverance and coordination with other bug wranglers and package maintainers. Summary: In order to assist the Project Leader with the administrative tasks around finances, and to improve accountability, checks, and balances, Arch should have an appointed Secretary-Treasurer.

systemd v262 pre-releases

Dropping ruby-bundler 4.0.17-1 from extra-testing

Hi, ruby-bundler[0] 4.0.17-1 has been dropped from extra-testing. ruby-bundler is a standard gem[1], and as such, it should be updated together with the whole ruby environment later. If you're using the testing repositories, please downgrade to the version available in extra. Apologies for the inconvenience. Dropping lmdb 1.0.0-1 and postfix 3.11.6-3 from [extra-testing]

Hi everyone, lmdb 1.0.0 has been in [extra-testing] for some time now and unfortunately resulted in a fair amount of incompatibilities and breakages [1]. As such, while waiting to have more free time to revisit this upgrade later and deal with the related implications, we have decided to drop lmdb 1.0.0-1 from [extra-testing] for the time being. Consequently, postfix 3.11.6-3 (a rebuild of the postfix package including patches for lmdb 1.0.0 support) has been dropped from [extra-testing] as well. If you're using the testing repositories, please downgrade lmdb and postfix to the versions available in the [extra] repository. Note that this may have eventual consequences for people that already migrated their DB schema to the lmdb 1.0.0 structure. Sorry for the inconvenience. Announcement: New maintainer for mkinitcpio

Hi everyone, Following Morten Linderud (Foxboron) recent resignation from the Arch Linux project [1], the mkinitcpio tool (Arch Linux's default initramfs image creation utility) [2] was left without any active maintainer. As a long time contributor and past (co-)maintainer of the mkinitcpio project, nl6720 [3] (who is also a long time member of our staff as a ArchWiki maintainer / administrator) has offered to jump back in (which only received positive reactions from the rest of the staff). I am therefore happy to announce that nl6720 is now the new maintainer of the mkinitcpio project! Thank you for volunteering to take on this responsibility! Resignation

Yo, I'm resigning as a package maintainer and developer of Arch Linux. It's been almost a decade since I met Jelle, Chris, Levente and Remi at 33C3 to be (peacefully) coerced into joining the security team, and almost 9 years since I became a package maintainer. It's time to let go. I've sent an internal email about misc responsebilities people are free to taken over, but for the benefit of the list I'll point out that mkinitcpio and arch-install-scripts is currently left without an active maintainer. glibc 2.44 in testing - moving to stable repos affected

I'm about to push glibc 2.44 to testing. Do not move packages linked against 2.44 to extra or core until glibc itself moves. Otherwise the package will probably break. Best regards, Frederik

News draft: virtualbox-ext-vnc >= 7.2.12-2 requires manual intervention

Hello everybody, I am about to clean up and fix the virtualbox-ext-vnc package, which is a split package of virtualbox. This requires manual intervention, so about to publish a news item. David and I came up with this. Please speak up if you have any improvements. --- 8< --- virtualbox-ext-vnc >= 7.2.12-2 requires manual intervention Previously, we installed its contents in a way that made `pacman` not aware of the files (using `VBoxManage extpack install ...` from an install script). GCC: libatomic and libstdc++ link precendence screwed

I've screwed up the latest gcc change. Please be aware that anything that links against libatomic or libstdc++ is linked against its static variant atm which may cause trouble. 1. Do not remove libatomic or libstdc++ dependencies from dependency arrays. 2. If possible refrain from building packages with those dependencies. Sorry for the inconvenience, I'm (or rather the build server is) working as fast as possible to get a fix out. Frederik
