These are the kind of messages that make me never want to read these, and we wonder why users ignore them.
I like to see it replaced with a short message and a wiki link instead. I think xorg-server has a good example for that. Also, the check should be versioned. If you're upgrading from a version that has the message, don't show it again. It is already versioned.
