Some quick observations is that there are several packages on the list we should probably not be dropping. The ones that come to mind is refind at the very least.
Here is a list of the packages for the list.
Some of those mentioned packages were mine and for nearly all of them I have either contacted other maintainers to take over (because they were not leaf packages, but not required by any of my other packages anymore) or those are unmaintained or otherwise leaf packages.
