If you don't mind my further complaining, the correct workflow for such requests leads though the bug tracker. Additionally you need to be a TU or dev to maintain a package in the official repositories.

AFAIK, it was never usable because it was always too far behind the mainline / stable kernels. The fact that it's behind CONFIG_EXPERT is a strong indication that distributions aren't supposed to be enabling it yet.
