The good news is: the libpcap package now has a stable SONAME (at least it is now libpcap.so.1). The bad news: we still have to rebuild all packages that depend on it for this update.
I already rebuilt (or am rebuilding):
libpcap lft nmap ppp tcpdump tcptraceroute wireshark
I have no time to continue this now. According to our website, in core/extra we have:
etherape ettercap kismet knockd libnids ngrep ntop snort ssldump
Does anyone have the time to rebuild these? The libpcap package is in testing (or in my staging dir, if you are a fast reader). Of course, the above packages will be broken until they are rebuilt.
Poking this thread in case anyone has some spare time. I have some tonight, but am stuck doing other things (like my own packages, figuring out the mailman archive malarky, and hopefully, working on the dbscripts)
Working through them at the moment, should be in testing tomorrow.
Thanks Tom! -Dan
