+1 here, as it's also in FreeBSD and OpenBSD base (and ubuntu as they don't have a root account which can be logged in :P). One sidenote though, sudo is not development. Is base-devel the only group/category this can go in?
I thought from pacman's side. fakeroot is not strict devel package too. When user wants to make packages - he installs base-devel - and all he(she?) needs for useable makepkg is installed. -- Roman Kyrylych (Роман Кирилич)
