Wouldn't it make more sense to move from [core]/[extra] to [community] instead of moving from [core] to [extra] to [community].
The group of possible maintainers is constant for a move of [core] to [extra] and I don't think, that such a repository change is helpful. The package will just decay for another year before it will get exposed to a new group of possible maintainers.
