smplayer stopped working now. :-) Maybe it needs to be rebuild. It also complains about an incorrect version of mplayer. It seems it does not contain the svn revision: "MPlayer dev-SVN-rUNKNOWN-4.3.2"
smplayer asked me what version of mplayer I was using. I selected greater than 1.0rc2 and all worked fine from then on. Rebuilding smplayer does not help.

Worked fine here as well, smplayer just asked which version I was using, so I just put greater than 1.0rc2. But it worked like a charm.
Not for me. I also tried to remove .mplayer and .smplayer. mplayer (x86_64) quits with "Error parsing option on the command line: -ass".
The new version of mplayer calls you names if you screw up?! Can we get this in pacman? :: Error connection to archlinux.org, ass
