I'm kind of wary of not shipping *basic* DNS tools which people expect to exist. drill is not a drop-in replacement for dig given that it ignores the +option flags.
If there are tools that do the same job, albeit in a different way or with a different syntax, I don't see the big problem here...
And no, I don't buy this "I disagree with upstream so I'm not shipping it" as an excuse to not only avoid BIND10, but drop BIND entirely.
Would be simple enough to adopt the BIND package... -t
