Among other things, this fixes an error that the random-seed is not saved when /var/lib/misc is missing. Haven't tested yet - I'll reboot my i686 machine tonight though. Can't test on x86_64 as it's a remote machine :)

No it means I won't be able to see if there were any errors or output... the machine will just suddenly be back up :)

Slice has the remote console thingy...I don't know if that is attached to vc/1 or if it is just some Xen serial port console thing though. -Dan

You can see most boot messages with Slicehost's web console. Problem is they use a custom xen kernel and that may have odd interaction that our kernel26 does not. Dale
