Afaik inotify was deprecated some time ago. There is dnotify or fsnotify.

You are so wrong. dnotify is old and deprecated. fsnotify is something new, but different. (Maybe vice versa, I forgot). Anyway, inofity is so cool that you cannot even disable it.
