Hi i tried this kvm crap now to get it running with kernel 22rc5 kvm-modules do compile, no problem here. to get this stuff running we need a gcc3.4 version kvm-qemu is bugged and doesn't compile with gcc 3.3 i have no hardware to test it and no need for it, it would be great if someone who has the hardware and the fun to do this stuff. thanks greetings tpowa -- Tobias Powalowski Archlinux Developer & Package Maintainer (tpowa) http://www.archlinux.org tpowa@archlinux.org

I can test it and maintain it if we really need that. I use it fairly regularly and I enjoy using it ;) Do you have a PKGBUILD or something for me? Jason

checkout the one from cvs emulators/qemu , and modify it to get it running on i686 then you run into the compile error. greetings tpowa -- Tobias Powalowski Archlinux Developer & Package Maintainer (tpowa) http://www.archlinux.org tpowa@archlinux.org

Very very good Jasnon & Tobias. Glad to hear you work it out! :) Cheers, -I
Hi, uploaded gcc34 and new qemu to [kernel] http://www.archlinux.org/~tpowa/rc-kernel/ you are invited to test the kvm stuff with kernel 22rc5 install kvm-modules and qemu package from this repository load the correct kvm module for your cpu, and add yourself to kvm group launch qemu-kvm then to test. gcc34 is needed to get it compiled there is no other chance at the moment and until this is fixed i would suggest to add gcc34 to extra too along with gcc3 package. thanks for testing greetings tpwoa -- Tobias Powalowski Archlinux Developer & Package Maintainer (tpowa) http://www.archlinux.org tpowa@archlinux.org

Thanks much for this, tpowa. I will consider helping to maintaining this, as I am thinking about using kvm regularly; I know Jason was also interested. I'm actually between kvm and Virtualbox, which seems to have very good performance AND a nice UI for managing the VMs. - P

I know fedora 7 has a UI for kvm/qemu. The source is... somewhere, I don't know where. I could look up the src.rpm for ya if you want. James -- Using Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/
Could you please tell, if it works, i have no x64 machine thanks, greetings tpowa -- Tobias Powalowski Archlinux Developer & Package Maintainer (tpowa) http://www.archlinux.org tpowa@archlinux.org
