[arch-dev-public] moving qt-4 and qt3 to [extra]
Hi all, finally with pacman 3.1 qt3 and qt-4 can be moved to [extra] without problems. I want to start this tonight or at the weekend (if I have internet access). So please make sure the packages in testing are the latest and do not touch qt related packages during the move. Here is a first list of packages that I want to move. Please check if I missed some (@tpowa: there are some kde-4 related packages in testing). eric oprofile qgit arts kdebindings kdebluetooth kdegraphics kdelibs dbus-qt3 poppler-qt poppler-qt3 pyqt pyqt3 python-qscintilla qca qca-qt3 qca-tls qscintilla qscintilla-qt3 qt qt-doc qt3 qt3-doc qwt qwtplot3d amarok-base amarok-engine-xine kmplayer qjackctl qsynth scribus fwbuilder opera psi twinkle twinkle-kdefree wpa_supplicant_gui djvulibre kile kmobiletools lyx qtparted spassgen gtk-qt-engine qtiplot speedcrunch stellarium xdrawchem Pierre PS: If someone knows an elegant way to do the move without untagging, copying to add and del, retag and run db-scripts, please let me know. :-) -- archlinux.de

Hey Pierre, well you could let the kde4 depends in testing, i don't think anything in extra needs it at the moment. I don't know when and how kde4 packages will hit the official repositories, right now, so it doesn't hurt to have them in testing. greetings tpowa -- Tobias Powalowski Archlinux Developer & Package Maintainer (tpowa) http://www.archlinux.org tpowa@archlinux.org

Hi Pierre, if you move amarok and amarok-base, then you must move the following: - libgpod - gtkpod - kipi-plugins - rhythmbox amarok depends on the libgpod and the other 3 packages have a libgpod dependency, too. They are working, so you can move them without any concerns. Daniel

Same for totem-plparser and all the things that depend on it. BTW: How do we handle the mozilla /usr move, is it done yet, or do we still have a big mess (AFAIK half of mozilla was moved to extra on i686 while it's still in testing for amd64 :X)

totem-plparser has different versions in i686 and x86_64. Is this right? -- http://www.archlinux.de

Could be, I updated totem-plparser to a newer version for x86_64. They should be compatible though.

The scribus package in testing is out-of-date compared to the one in extra. It'll need to be updated before being moved to extra. Neri is suppose to do that sometime today. Eric -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.
Thanks for your response. I don't think I will get this done today, but I'll send an updated list of packages. (might be easier to list all packages that wont be moved...) Pierre -- http://www.archlinux.de

Well, I have changed the dependencies of those to use qt3. Paul reverted those changes. Does the package use qt-4 now? -- archlinux.de

I'd guess this may be an accident (missed a "cvs up" before changing?). I saw reports of this on IRC of mythtv being broken

Nicely done, Pierre - thanks. There's some confusion out there though (as always), so maybe a news item as well? T.

OK, I'll write one. But there should be only some problems when using third party repos like kdemod. Perople just have to wait a few days until those repos are updated. -- http://www.archlinux.de
