[arch-dev-public] Archlinux on Froscon conference?
Hi all, Yesterday we got a leaflet from Froscon for their conference in end August ( http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/129392/ (their own website is down ATM)) We could opt for a developer room during that conference to hack on archlinux. There's more projects over there, so it's also a chance to meet upstream development hackers to solve things we can't solve, or to have a talk to them about your favourite program they're hacking on. The conference takes place on saturday and sunday 25/26 august 2007. If we would make a reservation for a developer/hacker room, at least Me, Andy and Alexander will go. I would like to know who else would be able to get to Bonn that weekend to see if it's useful to have a reservation.

Very nice. I never heard about that before. So count me in. I live in Bonn so it would only take a few minutes to get there by train or bus. It would be very nice if some of us could crash at your place man! :) Tpowa, JGC, Delmonico, AndyRTR and me were lucky this time on Linuxtag that I lived at least in the same town, not really nearby though. A free spot to crash is nice always I guess. Cheers, -F

I fear I have to disappoint you at this point. My student`s flat is way too small for more than one person. ;-) But of course I could help with organisation. And by the way: I would concentrate on Sankt Augustin because you need at least one hour to travel between Bonn and Sankt Augustin. (according to bahn.de there will be no Bus at the weekends...). In Addition to this St. Augustin should be much cheaper than Bonn I think. I hope their site will be back online soon so I can get more information about this. I will be at the place anyways (because it was cool there last year ;)), so it would be cool to see you around. On a side note, the FrosCon guys are looking to fill the remaining slots in the conference program and asked us if we could give a speech about arch. If anyone wants to, they'd like to get your talk description ASAP (as in "in the next week if possible"). chris

Seems to be there this year, too: http://www.froscon.org/Read-News.5+M56cc227f120.0.html?&L=1

I could help if someone wants to do that. But I think I don`t have much time next week. Btw: Do you think we might need some of the DVDs including Arch "Duke" I`ll get the next weeks? -- Pierre Schmitz Clemens-August-Straße 76 53115 Bonn Telefon 0228 9716608 Mobil 0160 95269831 Jabber pierre@jabber.archlinux.de WWW http://www.archlinux.de

Imho we should meet on irc or jabber to organize a few things. Then we could announce this event early enough. -- archlinux.de

What exactly does "a room" mean? I can't imagine what this would be like. If nothing goes wrong, you should be able to count on me, I reserved that weekend.

A room in that building dedicated to archlinux. It's a place where archlinux devs and users can go to hack on several things.

Sounds great, as long as we have electricity and LAN or WiFi there. And of course we need Archlinux T-Shirts. :)
