[arch-dev-public] [signoff] libarchive 2.4.14
Minor upgrade (12 -> 14), please signoff. If pacman -Syu works, you are fine. We can probably sneak this one onto the ISO if we get signoffs soon enough... I do need a build for x86_64, sorry I couldn't do it myself. -Dan

This version still cannot install/upgrade git correctly. There is /usr/share/gitweb/test/Märchen in the package which gets extracted to /usr/share/gitweb/test/M which is not tracked by pacman, and thus upgrading git fails due to conflicting file. But this is not a regression from previous version and everything else is fine, so I guess this is signoff (i686). -- Roman Kyrylych (Роман Кирилич)

Roman, I haven't seen this bug come up for ages- it came up once for be becuase pacman had lost track of that file. But it is extracted correctly here just fine. $ ls /usr/share/gitweb/test/ Märchen file with spaces file+plus+sign libarchive 2.4.14 (.12 worked just fine too), locale en_US.utf8, pacman 3.1.3 (all 3.1.X have worked fine), git 1.5.4.4 (I believe 1.5.3.7 and 1.5.4.2 were OK as well) -Dan

Oops, I misread Roman's comment. The file always extracted fine here, but it still wasn't tracked by pacman. I just saw exactly the same behavior as the others in the bug report.

Sorry for ISO this one was too late, already regenerated and it seems there are issues. This small lib is not worth rebuilding ISOs which means for me a half day work. greetings tpowa -- Tobias Powalowski Archlinux Developer & Package Maintainer (tpowa) http://www.archlinux.org tpowa@archlinux.org

Hmm, we have our final ISOs released? There really are no new issues here, although I haven't gotten the required signoffs yet, there shouldn't be problems. It isn't that big of deal, I just thought we were still on test ISOs. But wait, it really takes a half-day to rebuild an ISO? This sets off alarm bells in my head... -Dan

-Dan With half a day i meant also testing the ISO before pushing them to public ftp. it's a 90MB upload tarball which needs some time to get uploaded before ISO can be created, then it's a 500MB download again to test those ISOs. all of this needs quite some time. It's not a big deal to add libarchive to install packages, but it's a big deal to have it in install environment because then the upload tarballs needs to regenerate. This small package is imho not worth to regenerate the upload tarball. glibc had a weird bug which was worth the trouble and also the klibc-kbd had wrong depend array.

Pacman was working fine last night on i686 for a good chunk of updates, and it's working here on x86_64 with minimal testing done (pacman still runs) Signoff, both arches
