[arch-dev-public] [signoff] rpcbind-0.2.0-1 and libtirpc-0.2.0-1
Hi guys, in order to provide a state of the art portmapper with ipv6 support and all nfs4 stuff, we should replace portmap with rpcbind in [core]. Simply replace portmap daemon with rpcbind in /etc/rc.conf please signoff both packages greetings tpowa -- Tobias Powalowski Archlinux Developer & Package Maintainer (tpowa) http://www.archlinux.org tpowa@archlinux.org

fam needs a bit more changing as the daemon script still looks for portmap. Allan

Why did my console become a how-to guide? This is pretty excessive in my opinion, especially since it still says in the message to refer to the wiki... These are the kind of messages that make me never want to read these, and we wonder why users ignore them. Yeah sure will shorten this and provide a announcement with the best upgrade way to new nfs-utils. greetings tpowa -- Tobias Powalowski Archlinux Developer & Package Maintainer (tpowa) http://www.archlinux.org tpowa@archlinux.org

I like to see it replaced with a short message and a wiki link instead. I think xorg-server has a good example for that. Also, the check should be versioned. If you're upgrading from a version that has the message, don't show it again.
