[arch-dev-public] [signoff] netcfg-2
Pending some minor changes I'll upload tonight and signoff here, I'll put netcfg2 into [testing] this thursday/friday. I've been operating the scripts pretty heavily on a massive range of networks & configurations (coffee shops, universities, home networks, libraries) for the last 3 months without issue and am confident they are stable enough for the repos. They have fairly strong user support, and the documentation will develop quickly (already more than stock netcfg). After sufficient time in testing, I intend to move them to [core] and have the current netcfg removed from initscripts as it will effectively be superceded. http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=36384 http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Network_Scripts James

minor changes done, 1.99.29 is uploaded. This is ready to go to [testing], and shouldn't need long there at all. I'm only really concerned about odd quirks with different drivers or some obscure bug I havn't caught. The core network logic of the code is actually somewhat mature, having been written over a year ago and tested a bit since then. http://src.iphitus.org/netcfg-release/ James

Great. Thanks a lot. Now, because I'm a bit taxed at the moment, would you mind giving me a list of things that need testing. My network isn't that complex - wireless, static IP, yada yada. So I want to test some of the more esoteric cases if I can. Let me know. Thanks, Aaron

Now its mainly down to checking all the hardware plays nice. I've thrashed the scripts quite a bit with odd configs and without problems, so I can't suggest anything particular to test beyond hardware test cases. http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Network_Scripts#Testing James
