[arch-dev-public] UID/GID db sync
Hi! Just FYI - I've synced both databases on our devwiki and public wiki. Please everyone adding new UID/GID to database - do this as well. Users maintaining packages in AUR should check the db on wiki [1] to make sure there are no conflicts with already existing UIDs/GIDs. It is adviced to post a request first before adding UID/GID. Do not add them without a need. [1] http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/UID_and_GID_List P.S.: I'm watching this page so I'll do syncs when needed. -- Roman Kyrylych (Роман Кирилич)

Do we need this list on the dev wiki anymore? -Dan

I'm fine with the public list only. It's easier to track history there, our devwiki doesn't allow this. -- Roman Kyrylych (Роман Кирилич)

Wikis have history and the ability to revert. Protection = lack of updates and scaring contributors away. -Dan

Man, I had a big long response in my head, and you said it all in one sentence. Go Dan! As a side note: Should we set some sort of "reserved" numbers for official packages? Something like this may get ugly: new package extra/foo adds gid 200 new package community/bar adds gid 201 new package extra/baz adds gid 202
