[arch-dev-public] rc-kernels for x86_64
Hi, I built 2.6.22-rc5 and modules for x86_64. I used the same PKGBUILDs that tpowa used and built all modules that he has in his repos (except the ones that are not available in arch64 repos, like fcpci and ltmodem those won't build anyway). Because of some header changes in 2.6.22, fglrx is also missing, it doesn't build on x86_64 right now. If anyone is interested, please send me a fix. Get the packages here: [kernel] Server = http://www.archlinux.org/~thomas/rc-kernel-x86_64 This repository also contains iwlwifi packages for intel 3945 and 4965 wireless. It is quite unstable as far as I can tell, but it is the only driver for the 4965 (for the 3945, you should use the ipw3945 package for now). @tpowa: If you want to add iwlwifi to yours too, here are the PKGBUILDs: http://www.archlinux.org/~thomas/iwlwifi/

Just added a new version to the rc repo. I has microcode updates enabled now. It is actually rc6, but because of a lack of time, I didn't want to rebuild all modules, so it still says 2.6.22-rc5-ARCH. There is also a new iwlwifi and a new iwlwifi-ucode, maybe I'll add it later.

Hmm, next time, when building these RC series, I would suggest to do the same as we're doing with the final kernels: just name them 2.6.22-ARCH, or if you insist, keep it 2.6.22rc-ARCH or something like that. Just omit the version of the RC, pacman knows about it, and given the fact that release candidates are in freeze period, there won't be big internal changes that make modules incompatible with a next RC version.

I have issues with either your madwifi or my customly built one: $ modprobe ath-pci ath_hal: 0.9.18.0 (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212, RF5111, RF5112, RF2413, RF5413) wlan: 0.8.4.2 (svn r2435) ath_pci: 0.9.4.5 (svn r2435) ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:03:00.0[A] -> Link [LK1E] -> GSI 21 (level, low) -> IRQ 21 PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:03:00.0 to 64 MadWifi: HAL ABI mismatch; driver expects 0x7013100, HAL reports 0x6090700 ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:03:00.0 disabled $ For some reason the HAL (?!) abi is expected to be newer than the one found in the kernel. No idea what's going on exactly but why did it work with .21? Cheers, -U

I don't know anything about madwifi, I just used the PKGBUILD that tpowa used for i686.
I updated to 2.6.22-rc7, using tpowa's PKGBUILDs. I also updated iwlwifi, added rt2x00 again and will maybe add tiacx if I find a decent version. @tpowa: could you add iwlwifi to i686 (PKGBUILDs and packages in my public_html). I updated rt2x00 in unstable CVS, you could add this again.
