This seems weird to me - doesn't wlan-ng support some obscene amount of wireless cards? Maybe users didn't come forward because they didn't know what to look for - this is prism and the like, right? Could I get a quick list of modules, maybe it will help us find a tester?

No, most of the chipsets that wlan-ng was required for are now supported by some in-kernel drivers. Only some very obscure usb chipsets still needed it, and in the past Tom was the only one we could find who had such a chip. At least, that is what tpowa and/or tom explained to me a while ago.

Shouldn't we just keep it until it's not compilable anymore or a user says hey it's not working anymore? -- Tobias Powalowski Archlinux Developer & Package Maintainer (tpowa) http://www.archlinux.org tpowa@archlinux.org

I think yes, unless it's PITA to maintain. -- Roman Kyrylych (Роман Кирилич)

I agree. I'll give my "signoff" on this, not saying that it is tested, but I'm going to claim responsibility if this package is broken. We may have to just do that for some of these driver oriented things

so the inclusion of the drivers now into the kernel package itself makes this one obsolete?

not really we only provide the usb part in wlan-ng which is used on exotic hardware which isn't claimed by kernel drivers, correct me tom if im wrong. greetings tpowa -- Tobias Powalowski Archlinux Developer & Package Maintainer (tpowa) http://www.archlinux.org tpowa@archlinux.org
