Yes, Vesa hap updated several base packages, I'm doing a bunch of the others right now.

Is there anything depending on haskell-packedstring in the haskell repo? I am wondering whether we should remove it: it is marked as deprecated and the recommended replacement is bytestring which comes with GHC. Rémy.
