News post draft: Dropping python2 from the repositories
Yo, We are just missing a couple of packages before we can fully remove python2 from the repositories. Thanks to Jelle for all the hard work<3 Here is a suggestion for a news entry for the removal itself Subject: Removing python2 from the repositories We have removed python2 from the main repositories. If you still require the python2 package you need to build it from the AUR, or use an [unofficial user repository](https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Unofficial_user_repositories). -- Morten Linderud PGP: 9C02FF419FECBE16

Brings joy to my heart :) Maybe add a friendly reminder that Python 2 is EOL since 2020-01-01? Cheers, -- Maxime

Woo, great news. Awesome job everyone involved! <3 I agree that it would make sense to mention Python 2 being long past its EOL date because people will inevitably become upset and confused as to why this was done, and mentioning that should hopefully lessen at least some of the confusion. -- Sincerely, Johannes Löthberg :: SA0DEM :: he/him
I have included a mention of the EOL date. Please see the markdown pad for drafts :) https://md.archlinux.org/OBjLXYmDRo-ZN_HngPoK1w ... Subject: Removing python2 from the repositories Python 2 went [end of life](https://www.python.org/doc/sunset-python-2/) January 2020. Since then we have been actively cutting down the number of projects depending on `python2` in our repositories, and we have finally been able to drop it from our distribution. If you still require the python2 package you need to build it from the AUR, or use an [unofficial user repository](https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Unofficial_user_repositories). -- Morten Linderud PGP: 9C02FF419FECBE16
