[arch-events] FOSDEM 2016 participation (please reply until Wednesday if you are interested)
Hello guys, a user I met at FrOSCon this year and last year wants to organize an Arch Linux Devroom at FOSDEM on January 30th/31st [1]. We would need a few devs and TUs to be there at least. A program with a few talks would also be nice (users can also give talks, not only developers and TUs). There is also the question whether we want the room on Saturday, Sunday, or both. So, anyone who is interested to 1) help watch the room 2) give a talk 3) hold a discussion panel 4) bring hardware 5) generally be there 6) ...???? should reply until Wednesday so we can respect FOSDEM's deadline. Does anyone have contact to the ALRAM guys? Maybe one of them will be on board. Or maybe there is another Arch-derivative that would join us? [1] https://fosdem.org/2016/

Thanks for bringing this up. I plan to be there; I still need to organize accommodation and travel though. What kind of hardware did you have in mind? I doubt I can bring anything else other than my notebook. I am interested in everything else though; especially number 6. I still need to come up with a useful topic for a talk. Maybe something about packaging, containers, organizing the Arch project or a combination of these. Greetings, Pierre -- Pierre Schmitz, https://pierre-schmitz.com

Nice initiative! I will be at FOSDEM 2016, I will think about 1-6. Added the initial mail to the topic of our main irc channel in the hope of getting some more attention ;) -- Jelle van der Waa
I plan to attend as well. I can watch other people's toys and be nice to strangers, and I'll definitely be working on another little toy worth chatting about. cheers! mar77i

For now, we need to have a few people for organizing the devroom and need to decide whether we want the room for one or two days. For now, I am counting Jelle, Pierre and myself. Two more people would be really great. We have some time left to announce talks or anything after the registration.
Sure I'll be there. On Tue, Oct 6, 2015 at 7:27 PM, Thomas Bächler <thomas@archlinux.org> wrote:

I guess I forgot to mention this here, but FOSDEM did not give us a devroom. In any case, I will likely still be there.
Sorry for top-posting; on my mobile atm. Sad to hear. Nonetheless, I would really like to fetch some of you folks for a radio interview if possible. I am a freelance journalist with Luxembourg's national state radio 100Komma7 [0] and I'd love to interview someone of you about Arch Linux and why its outstanding.
