[arch-events] FrOSCon 2012 Newsletter #1
I am forwarding this email: G'morrow, FrOSCon friends, for the seventh time, the FrOSCon organisational crew invites you to the Free and Open Source Software Conference, taking place on 25th and 26th of August at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg. We are proud to be able to happily announce another year of exciting talks, projects and workshops while, of course, keeping an eye on providing you with a lot of fun during the weekend as well. Despite of being a bit late this year, preparations for the conference are running at full power. Getting together on many occasions, including a coming up weekend at the Linuxhotel in Essen [1], a heavily grown team of well-known and newly motivated volunteers is working hard to create everything that makes out a fruitful conference. As we put high efforts in all things organisational, as a matter of fact the success of the conference depends highly on you when it comes to presentations of projects, talks and workshops. Thus, let's introduce you to the upcoming calls for papers and projects [2]! This year, especially the kids track (also referred to as FrogLabs) is undergoing a heavy re-design, now allowing young minds to present their projects and ideas to other "hackers" their age [3]. FrOSCon e.V., being a non-profit organisation, depends on your donations. Should you or your company be able to support us, maybe by means of opting for a sponsoring package, that would be highly welcomed. You are invited to direct all questions and offers regarding this to sponsoren@froscon.de. We are looking forward to meeting everyone who visited us throughout the last years and of course also many new visitors! I am back in this year. How about we make it bigger this year. I was thinking: - CDs (again, which means we need a tested release end of July) - Shirts, Hoodies - Stickers - Laptop stickers - Get people from Arch ARM on board to join us. Who's with me? :)

Yay, so many! Seriously though: I am currently considering whether or not to come to FrOSCon this year. What are your plans? Is anyone coming? Should we have the Arch Linux booth again?

I most probably won't come this year. There's some family event at this weekend so I stay at least Friday and Saturday morning in the south. Yet it's still possible that I'll take the suffer of hours of lame traffic, produced by the masses of families coming back from vacation, so I can at least attend the evening event on Saturday and join the mass of people driving home south at Sunday. ;-) -- Jabber: atsutane@freethoughts.de Blog: http://atsutane.freethoughts.de/ Key: 295AFBF4 FP: 39F8 80E5 0E49 A4D1 1341 E8F9 39E4 F17F 295A FBF4

I'll be totally there ... same procedure as every year. No idea about the organisation, though. Booth, workshop room, both? Who did the application last time? -- byte
