[arch-events] FrOSCon 2014 - 23.& 24. August
Hi, any plans yet? I'll be there and I would help at the table, but I have to much going on in July and August to organize that. Maybe with one of the other projects related to us? Someone who wants to give a talk this year? The call for papers ends at the 23rd of this month. Cheers, Thorsten

Cool, My agenda is free, so I reserved the weekend. Since it's a 3 hour drive I might just turn up =) (if there are ponies) -- Jelle van der Waa

Good chance I'll be there as I did not miss the event in the past so far. Anybody in for a dev room? Deadline is tomorrow though. ;-) Greetings, Pierre -- Pierre Schmitz, https://pierre-schmitz.com

Yeah, FrOSCon, sure thing.
I did register an application for a dev room. I still need a little help though: * A list of participants and their mail address * project description in German and English * Our program for the devroom * How many guests do we expect Sounds like we might even be able to give mall talks in our dev room if we like. But we need to apply for this now and provide at least a rough plan. Greetings, Pierre -- Pierre Schmitz, https://pierre-schmitz.com

Okay, I'll let them remove my application for a room. For the description I'd say the text from archlinux.org and archlinux.de describe our system really good. For the guests: I currently know of 10 people who will be there (Excluding us two). So my assumption was a room for at least 12 people. Regards, Thorsten

Hi all, I am cc'ing to dev-public to reach a broader audience. Maybe other dev or tus are interested. I got an answer from the FrOSCon team and we have to choose between two options: 1) a room for 25 people, a built-in beamer but for only one day. 2) a smaller room for 10 people with an optional mobile beamer but for both days. If we take option 1 we need to organize a couple of talks. We should use up to 6 slots a day: https://paste.archlinux.de/35ocw/plain This could include some (open) dev meeting or discussions. But we probably need like three people who are willing to give a talk in front of a small group. As we did not do this before I am definitely interested in giving it a try. It shouldn't be too hard to come up with 3 or 4 topics worth talking about. (We have till August to finalize these for the printed program) Please let me know what you think about this and which option we should take. Also send me you name and mail address if you are likely to participate so I can sign you up for tickets. @Thorsten: Did you hear back about the booth? We might combine these as in taking the dev room for Saturday and the booth for Sunday. Greetings, Pierre -- Pierre Schmitz, https://pierre-schmitz.com

Small update: we could also have both rooms; the big one for Saturday and the small one for Sunday. Would mean we need to move once; but shouldn't be a big deal. -- Pierre Schmitz, https://pierre-schmitz.com

Hi, I just checked and yes we will get a booth, the status of the application is: "Your project was accepted as exhibitor." I applied for four tables with the notice, that if we get a room we only need one table for a basic presentation of the project. I like the idea of getting the big one on Saturday and the smaller one on Sunday. Giving talks on Saturday, and doing some discussions and practical stuff on Sunday seems nice. If we agree on this and the single table as reference is fine, write the mail, cc me and I'll update the application form to avoid future confusion with it. :-) A raw idea I have so far is a talk about how Arch evolved, what projects and forks are based on it to give people not so familiar an idea about it. With such a talk other speakers gain a point of entry for their talks and several people will be able to follow the presentations better. Cheers, Thorsten

Yes, there are plenty of topics. I'd also be interested talking about some backgrounds like how we actually maintain Arch and how people can create packages involving devtools and dbscripts. -- Pierre Schmitz, https://pierre-schmitz.com
Hi, I applied for a room with space for at least 12 people and a booth. That one's size depends on whether we get a room or not. For those of you who want to participate either register yourself at the portal and notify me or just send me a mail with your first and last name + the mail address you want to be notified at. In that case an account is generated automatically for you. https://callforprojects.froscon.de/ Either way, I need a mail from you, so I can enter you as participants for the project. Cheers, Thorsten

Good timing :-) I added you to the participants list and enabled edit mode for you, so you should be able to edit the application as well. -- Pierre Schmitz, https://pierre-schmitz.com
