Is any of that relevant on the frontpage? Maybe we should put an item 'Packages' in the top menu, and link to /packages. We could extend the packages page (or divide packages related things over multiple pages) to add an overview of available repositories, recently updated packages etc. Putting the above things together: the blocks on the right are gone, the 'documentation' , 'community' etc links can go up, replacing the blocks and making the links more visible. (I do think that having all links visible separately can be good thing - eg they are not hidden because of a menu with 2 levels whether it be dropdown or a tabbed menu with main items and subitems) When we get that far, we might as well swap right and left too: the top menu items aligned left, the links on the left, and the 'about box' and the news on the center/right, but this is more a matter of personal taste I guess. Just my 8 cents :-) PS: I can help with the redesign/restructure if needed, but preferably only after a consensus is reached. It's not that I really like designing things "for fun" but if we reach a (sort of) consensus and you lack the manpower, I would be glad to help. Dieter

Hi, you may directly talk to the maintainer of those 2 packages, to get the quickest answer. As you can read in the comments of the packages in AUR, rb_libtorrent was renamed to libtorrent-rasterbar by it's developers. Maybe they shouldn't be both in [community], but it's the way gcarrier is managing this transition. I suppose rb_libtorrent will dissapear once it's not needed by other packages. [arch-general] DVD/CD Device /dev/dvd & Co Symlinks Are Broken

Since I can't find the creation of this symlink anywhere in the udev scripts. I use the current udev version and the hal version from testing. The last libxaw package (1.0.5-1) doesn't include version 8 of the library. This breaks some package in community. Example binaries linked to libXaw.so.8: · /usr/bin/lqtplay from libquicktime-1.0.3-2 · /usr/bin/FreeWRL_Message from freewrl-1.20.1-1 Should libxaw include libXaw8.a, libXaw8.so...? Or those packages need a rebuild? Side notes: 1. the libquicktime package doesn't depend on libxaw; 2. freewrl depends on libxaw; no version specified (it can't); 3. should libxaw package provide versioned libraries? Also /usr/lib/libXaw.so from libxaw-1.0.4-1 linked to libXaw8.so; now links to libXaw7.so. bye

Hello. I have updated to Xorg-server 1.5 from testing. However I get extremely low fps (60fps) when running glx-gears. The error I get in the terminal is "Failed to initialize TTM buffer manager. Falling back to classic." After googling I came across this bug report on gentoo tracker: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=237468 >From my research it appears that many people who have Intel cards have this issue. I have the Intel 82945G/GZ using the xf86-video-intel driver. From the bug report it seems as if no work is going into supporting TTM, instead all the work with the driver is going into GEM support. I am not sure what TTM and GEM are, which makes my understand weak with the issue at hand. >From what I do understand it has something to do with dri (a backend?) I have updated libdrm to 2.4.1 and xf86-video-intel to 2.5.1 and continue to receive the error as many others do. I am currently in the process of compiling a new kernel that has GEM support. Following the directions from comment 41 of the bug report. >From reading though the bug report is seems as if this GEM technology is unstable and not ready for any type of release. If xorg-server 1.5 is moved from testing to extra, can we have an archive of xorg-server 1.4 and all related packages? This migration is going to affect a lot of archers with Intel cards. Many archers require much higher frames per second. By providing an archive of these packages it will allow new installations and people who upgrade a chance to downgrade to regain performance. I couldn't find a definition of a 'signoff', but I updated abs, built the 2 new packages, they compiled fine, i installed them, rebooted my system and everything came up fine (dm_crypt+lvm based system). I also tested the basic commands (pvdisplay,lvdisplay) and even did an lvextend and resize2fs on a volume. everything still works fine. (didn't try making new/deleting LV/PV's etc though) Does this count as a "signoff" ? PS: Users cannot send to arch-dev-public(a)archlinux.org, so fwiw I cc'd arch-general. Dieter

Hi, i read the packages rss feed (http://www.archlinux.org/feeds/packages) and recognized that every entry is double in the list. Has anyone the same problem? I ask only if this is a known problem or if i should search where is my error. See you, Attila
