I will be updating the AUR on main site sometime this evening. There might be intermittent downtime and maintenance messages, but downtime will be minimal. This is a really big release, and I do mean big. This release brings a json interface, the brand new arch look, a tu voting back-end, tons of changes under the hood, and the removal of safe flags, among tons of other changes. [arch-general] monospace fontsize changed in firefox

Hi, during the past few weeks there were xserver and firefox updates and it seems that they have made firefox render some monospace-fonts slightly bigger. The following image displays a part of a board which has not been modified for years: Mirror 1: http://i30.tinypic.com/vg6e0h.png Mirror 2: http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/1708/monobt7.png CSS-definition for the displayed text (before _and_ after change `x'): font: normal 13px monospace; I tried to display the page with a new firefox-profile (rm -rf .mozilla) but it looked the same. Thanks, Petar BTW: I don't have a clue about the font-family used in the example since xfontsel is still a total mystery to me. However, I do know that `monospace' is just something like an alias and not a real font.

Hi, i put this here as an information instead of writing a feature request because at the moment i don't think it is the job of the arch devs to cancel a decision of the kernel devs. Okay, i found a patch to get the possibility of loading LSM modules back: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=207421#c7 After following the instructions from above i have this lines in my config: CONFIG_SECURITY=y CONFIG_SECURITY_MODULAR=y # CONFIG_SECURITY_NETWORK is not set # CONFIG_SECURITY_CAPABILITIES is not set updatedb and locate works as normal. I don't know if this will works with following kernel releases but at the moment this is a nice option if you use rlocate. See you, Attila

[arch-general] Opera 9.5x snapshots moved to unstable

I have removed the Opera devel snapshots from our testing repo to not mix it with future 9.2x releases. You find the latest 9.5x snapshots now in unstable for both arches. Take care - it replaces the stable Opera from extra. So backup all your stuff before you try it out. -AndyRTR

[arch-general] no x with new xorg-server and nvidia

Hi folks, right now, I updated my machine and X won't start! The new kernel, new xorg-server and nvidia-*. nvidia 169.09-2 nvidia-utils 169.09-1 xorg-server 1.4.0.90-6 kernel26 2.6.24.1-2 I updated normally but X won't start. All I get is a blank screen. I can't change back to ttys. The only thing that's working is CTRL+ALT+DEL to reboot my machine. I tried a few thing.. pacman -Rd xorg-server nvidia nvidia-utils and installing them again pacman -S xorg-server pacman -S nvidia nvidia-utils everytime the symlink to libwfb.so in /usr/lib/xorg/modules is symlinked to the "real" libwfb. Having nvidia-* installed, it symlinks to libnvidia-wfb.so.169.09. If nvidia is not installed, it symlinks to libwfb.so.1.4 Any ideas? I can't get any output of the starting X-Server, because I can't switch back to the tty. [arch-general] Firefox 2.0.0.12, unable to rebuilding !

Hi all, I sent an e-mail early to whom I think is responsible for this package but, since I got no reply yet, I'm trying here and see if I have more luck :). It seem like there is a problem with the latest Firefox update (v2.0.0.12). I cannot rebuild the package as there is a file (declared in the PKGBUILD) that is missing. The file is a patch named "firefox-1.5-theme-change.patch". If I remove any references to this patch in the PKGBUILD, the package will then build. Also, the md5sums() array doesn't reflect the source() array number of elements: # abs [...] $ source /var/abs/extra/network/firefox/PKGBUILD $ echo ${#source[*]} 19 $ echo ${#md5sums[*]} 18 I'm pretty sure this mistake is linked to the missing patch mentioned above. Could someone have a look at this or do I have to file a bug ? Thanks, Gilles.

Hi, i started playing with packages in base today, and the first two packages that come up in alphabetical order are acl and attr. I decided to research what those packages actually do, since i doubt i have ever used them. The site both packages link to is http://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/. I am wondering if those packages are needed to a user not using the XFS filesystem and the reason acl is Required By : coreutils gettext libarchive vim. Any help on the subject, links etc. would be appreciated. Next thing i wanted to ask is if the bash-noinfo.patch in the bash package is indeed needed as the man page installs fine without it. PS. Can we get the Mailing List footer back? Greg
