Hi, lvm2/device-mapper 2.02.75-1 are now in testing for an upstream update. Please test and signoff. I couldn't test much the i686 package except in a chroot so 2 signoffs for i686 would be nice. Don't take write lock in vgchange --refresh, --poll or --monitor. Skip dm devices in scan if they contain only error targets or are empty. Fix strict-aliasing compile warning in partition table scanning. Fix pthread mutex usage deadlock in clvmd. Automatically extend snapshots with dmeventd according to policy in lvm.conf. Add activation/snapshot_autoextend_threshold/percent to lvm.conf. Fix liblvm2cmd link order to support --as-needed. Remove dependency on libm by replacing floor() by an integer-based algorithm. Fix hang when repairing a mirrored-log that had both devs fail. Convey need for snapshot-merge target in lvconvert error message and man page. Add devices/disable_after_error_count config to limit access to failing devs. Give correct error message when creating a too-small snapshot. Implement vgextend --restoremissing to reinstate missing devs that return. Make lvconvert respect --yes and --force when converting an inactive log. Refactor and add 'get' functions for lv properties/fields. Update script for fsadm testing. Better support of noninteractive shell execution of fsadm. Fix usage of --yes flag for ReiserFS resize in fsadm. Fix detection of mounted filesystems for fsadm when udev is used. Fix assignment of default value to LVM variable in fsadm. Fix support for --yes flag for fsadm. Do not execute lvresize from fsadm --dry-run. Fix fsadm return error code from user's break action. Allow CC to be overridden at build time (for 'scan-build make'). Rename 'flags' to 'status' in struct metadata_area. Avoid segfault by limiting partial mode for lvm1 metadata. (2.02.74) Use dm_zalloc and dm_pool_zalloc throughout. Add pv_get_property and create generic internal _get_property function. Add 'get' functions for pv and vg properties/fields. Make generic GET_*_PROPERTY_FN macros with secondary macro for vg, pv & lv. Add tags_format_and_copy() common function and call from _tags_disp. Add id_format_and_copy() common function and call from _uuid_disp. Refactor report.c '*_disp' functions to call supporting functions. Move parts of metadata*.[ch] into new {pv|vg|lv}.[ch] files. Fix vg_read memory leak with directory-based metadata. Fix memory leak of config_tree in reinitialization code path. Fix pool destruction order in dmeventd_lvm2_exit() to avoid leak debug mesg. Read whole /proc/self/maps file before working with maps entries. Speed up unquoting of quoted double quotes and backslashes. Speed up CRC32 calculations by using a larger lookup table. [arch-general] New ghostscript segfaults with hylafax?

Guys, Ghostscript segfaults when sending faxes with hylafax: Oct 29 13:51:12 localhost kernel: gs[9456]: segfault at 8 ip 00000000007b62b0 sp 00007fff67f352a8 error 4 in gs[400000+6be000] This is with: hylafax 6.0.4-1 ghostscript 9.00-1 What do check (any logs other than everything.log?) Any tests you can think of to run? I know very little about the interplay between ghostscript and hylafax other than it either works or it doesn't. If someone have this card - please, test it. On 2.6.36 kernel monitor mode causes kernel panic, on .35 - simply doesn't work properly(channel of mon0 interface == -1). -- WBR && GTFO

[arch-general] A question about running Proftpd

Hi all, Have just installed ProfTPD and if I run /etc/rc.d/proftpd start as root it stats just fine. In /etc/proftpd.conf it says to run the server as the group nobody and the user nobody. I am just wondering what system level it's running on? Is the server now running as root or what privilegies does it have to the system? I suppose it is not running as the root user then? [arch-general] Screen goes black after installing latest nvidia driver

Today I updated my desktop which installed latest nvidia - version 260.19.12. When I tried startx, screen went black and the led of the power button of the monitor kept flashing.After I downgraded the nvidia, everything went allright. To be absolutely sure that it is not caused by anything in my system, i installed arch again on to a new partition and installed the packages. Same results. I searched the bug tracker but found nothing.Is anybody experiencing the same thing ? My system: Vga:VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G86 [GeForce 8400 GS] (rev a1)

Guys, I don't know if this is software or hardware related, but after a shutdown (power outage that exhausted the UPS), I boot my box and I get no display at all. The nvidia platinum SLI board has an onboard vga controller that is turned off in the bios and the box uses an nv8800gt for the display. Given the lack of bios/grub display, it sounds like it was still looking at the wrong controller until kdm start. [arch-general] Question about installing libraries

Hi all, I am learning and learning more in Arch linux, but I have a question. There are a few programs that I use and I am not able to find all the dependencies in the Arch repositories, and some of th elibraries are a little old and the developers have .deb packages for them. So my question is if I get a such package, may I just extract it, unpack the data.tar.gz and copy the libraries into /usr/lib? For example, I now need to use pygame1.8 and there is 1.9 in the arch repository. What do you think? Many thanks, Christian
