[arch-general] Is it proper that I add some material about raspberry pi on Arch over the Archwiki?

Guys some time ago I got a Pi. I know there is much to be done with it, so far I`ve installed arch on it, running a seed box at the moment. The idea would use the power of archwiki to have people sharing information and having cool ideas for raspberry pi. I`ve seen guys doing great stuff like a solar powered py running SETI@Home, mods to run pinball machines and so on. But all this information is still scattered on the Internet making it a bit harder to people just starting up. For instance: http://www.raspberrypi-tutorials.co.uk/ http://elinux.org/RPi_Tutorials Just as example are quite scattered regarding format. So maybe we could use the community to build a great wiki. The http://archlinuxarm.org/ seems to have no wiki. (Do they use https://wiki.archlinux.org/ ?) Could one please give me some pointers of how could I start it? I bought a crucial M4 (128GB) for my laptop, and now the idea is to move the operating system and most of the data there, keeping the other disk in the cd-bay as second disk. I formatted the SSD disk like this: Disk /dev/sda: 128.0 GB, 128035676160 bytes, 250069680 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x000ee70d Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 * 2048 411647 204800 83 Linux /dev/sda2 411648 250069679 124829016 83 Linux Where sda2 is a LVM volume, but the first thing which I'm not sure is if I got the alignment correct. I didn't find anywhere what should be the alignment for my disk, and a way to check that you actually got it right (some ways only for Windows funnily). Any hint? I'm not sure, however, if this configuration is supposed to make sense or it's just autogenerated as a template.. The fstab for the SSD is this: /dev/mapper/ssd-root / ext4 rw,relatime,data=ordered,discard 0 2 # UUID=54d06c44-2b32-4969-be42-d98d2bf7e994 /dev/sda1 /boot ext4 rw,relatime,data=ordered,discard 0 2 but I've seen somewhere that ext4 might be a problem too, or is that fixed? [arch-general] syslog-ng depends on systemd?

Hi, with the recent update of syslog-ng (3.3.6-2), systemd has been added as a dependency. I though systemd providing its own logging and syslog-ng wasn't needed. Then why is systemd needed for syslog-ng to run? As far i can see from the diffs, nothing has changed apart from adding systemd as a dependency.

I've already written this to the bugtracker. There I was told to post it here: seamonkey is flagged out of date for about 4 weeks now. There are several security vulnerabilites in 2.11 --> http://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/seamonkey.html Could the maintainer update the seamonkey package as soon as possible? [arch-general] Immediate suspend after wake-up

Hi, since a few weeks my machines are going to an immediate suspend after the wake-up of another suspend. So basically I have to wake-up my machines twice after a suspend. One of my machine even reboots randomly after the wake-up, which renders the suspend functionality quite useless. Now originally I thought that this is something specific to my Sony laptops, because both of my machines are Sony ones. However I've installed Arch to an Medion laptop today and experienced the same issue here. So now I'm thinking that this is something more generic. I haven't looked deep into this yet, but wanted to ask whether this is something you are also experiencing? I'm pretty sure this came about with a larger update a few weeks ago. The suspected candidates are the kernel itself as well as systemd. So, before digging into this, I would like to know whether some of you know about this already and whether there is a workaround/fix for this? Best regards, Karol Babioch

With recent kernels & udev + initscripts I started having warm boot problems with one of my desktops. Fully updated testing repo (3.6.2). Cold boot works fine. [arch-general] special keys on latop don't work

Hi, folks, until a few days ago running GNOME I could use the special keys on my laptop, e.g. for volume up/down. Now nothing happens when I press one of these keys. Strange enough, it seems like only the volume up/down keys have quit their work. Because they did their job out of the box I don't know how to re-acitivate them. Does anyone have a hint for me ? The keys behave this way so in GNOME but also in other DEs like LXDE. Kind regards, Nelson.
