[arch-general] bluetooth audio adapter without playback

Merry Christmas to all Archer's out there ! :) Sadly enough I recognized a problem with my Logitech bluetooth adapter on Christmas Eve. This adapter connects my laptop with my stereo system so I can use the speakers of the stereo system wireless. This has worked for several months. But with the last update of pulseaudio (GNOME as DE) this connection broke permanently and I realized it the first time just when I wanted to play some Christmas music. :( :) The adapter indicates that a connection has been established, I also see the bluetooth adapter in the mixer but when I start to play some music again the internal laptop speaker are used for output. This is not related to the question if I started the music player before or after pairing with the adapter. A look in /var/log/messages.log for useful messages leads me to this line: moria pulseaudio[1480]: [pulseaudio] module-bluetooth-device.c: Profile has no transport Is this caused by this bug [1] - or not, because the description relates to pa 2.99.2, and I have 3.0.2 installed ? Hi all, I'm late to the party of signing packages and databases, but was a little surprised to find this statement on the pacman-key wikipage[1]: Although all official packages are now signed, as of June 2012 signing of the databases is a work in progress. Is there a list of mirrors where the databases *are* signed already? [arch-general] [cups-filters] adds cups-browserd.service - please test

New cups-filters 1.0.26 brings back browsing remote shared printers using the new cups-browserd. This requires a running a local cupsd instance and avahi on the client system. Please test the included cups-browserd.service file and check if browsing now works as expected and described in /usr/share/doc/cups-filters/README. -Andy

[arch-general] netcfg drops wifi connection

Every time i connect to a wireless network (no matter how strong the signal is), after 1-2 minutes, the connection is dropped and i have to manually start it again. This never happens with the ethernet connection. I'm currently testing this with a WEP connection using wifi-menu to connect to an already created profile (netcfg version 3). I have Arch x86-64 with a Broadcom BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY [14e4:4315] (rev 01) wireless card and use the b43 driver from AUR. Last week pmount went from extra to aur. I used to use pmount to allow users to mount external devices as simple as: pmount /dev/sdb1 Is there an alternative to pmount in core, extra or community that allows users to mount with a simple command an external storage device?

I have an hp laptop with a m64-s. I can't get X output. I've tried catalyst proprietary but I found out that my gpu isn't supported since long time ago. so I try to setup with opensource drivers. also if i don't "nomodeset" on boot, the pc is hungs on boot. when i startx with the radeon mod loaded I get: Screen 0 deleted because of no matching config section. and then no screens found

[arch-general] Nvidia Driver woes on Macbook 3,2

First of all, I'm sorry if the general discussion list isn't for questions like this. I wasn't sure how to figure out what's appropriate. Per https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=154496, I've had a real ordeal trying to get video working on Arch on a repurposed late 2010 Macbook Air. I've never had issues like this with video / X in Arch before. I'm wondering if anyone can give me a push in the right direction to at least diagnose this problem. It's getting pretty hard to work without a browser! $ lspci | grep VGA 02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation MCP89 [GeForce 320M] (rev a2) Here's what I've tried in EFI mode: - all the proprietary drivers listed on the nvidia page on the Arch wiki; each of them either wouldn't load X or showed a blank screen; ctrl-alt-fN didn't work and I had to do a hard reboot - standard nouveau setup - X sort of starts up but there are weird artifacts, mouse doesn't work, and it freezes up pretty quickly. - nouveau with mesa-git - as above - nouveau with mesa-full - above I've also tried BIOS compatibility mode, but I wasn't able to get my drives to mount. At any rate, it was very slow to boot, so I really want to stick with the EFI + GRUB2 setup. My Xorg.0.log when loading the proprietary driver, which just shows a black screen: http://pastie.org/5556341 My Xorg.0.log when loading nouveau, which has strange artifacts, incomplete rendering of windows, and soon locks up: http://codepad.org/QFdP9Fax I have no .xinitrc file. For nouveau, I have the default X config. For the proprietary drivers, I can nvidia-xconfig. I've been trying everything both as a normal user and as root. [arch-general] mkinitcpio: Rethinking remote unlock via SSH

Hi, so far I was using "dropbear_initrd_encrypt" (see [1]) to unlock a cryptdevice remotely via SSH, which worked reasonably well. However since the latest release of mkinitcpio it doesn't work anymore. I could fix the issues in the meantime, however it got me into thinking that this could be done even better. The main problem I have with "dropbear_initrd_encrypt" is that it sort of mixes the "dropbear" and "encryptssh" hooks. The dropbear daemon for instance is started in the "dropbear" hook, but killed after successfully unlocking the cryptdevice in the "encryptssh" hook. Furthermore the "encryptssh" hook is basically a copy of the "encrypt" hook with some changes. Now my idea so far was the following: Start a screen session early (using "run_earlyhook"). Start dropbear whenever SSH access is needed, e.g. right before the "encrypt" hook itself using a separate "dropbear" hook ("run_hook" should be fine). Now the SSH session should be attached to the screen session, so the input/output will be "shared". After unlocking (run_cleanuphook) kill the screen session. I've spent some time on this, but couldn't get it working so far. Now before spending even more time on it, I would like to know from you what you think about it and whether or not this can be done. Are there any obvious issues I'm haven't thought of yet? Unfortunately I'm not too familiar with screen and every attempt I tried so far will bring up some form of an interactive screen session with the welcome screen being shown. This will bring the boot process to a "halt", where I have to exit the screen session to move on. I guess in the first step I would just like to have all output from the boot process within the initramfs shown in a screen session. Has anyone of you some advice(s) for me? Using screen has the advantage that the whole output during boot will be accessible (scrollable) as screen would buffer all of it.
