Hi, There's a problem with all the mercurial based PKGBUILD, the following command: hg pull Returns with a non zero exit code if there's nothing to pull. In that case, makepkg fails with since it traps all non zero exit codes. I've found traces of this mercurial behavior dating from 2006, hence I presume that makepkg must have become picky lately? Hi . I am trying to set the timezone up correctly and setup ntp to run . I have tried using System Settings in KDE but for some reason it does not accept the password . If i enter the password (root password) it reply's failed to Authenticate and greys everyting out for a few seconds i have sudo installed as that was suggeted as the problem on the previous install that crashed and burned what else is missing ntp is installed as well .. Hi .. Hi :) I'll test if it will be possible to replace jack2 by jackdbus for my needs, e.g. if it's easy to change my session scripts for older audio productions to use it. I started it by $ jackdbus auto, now I've got $ pidof jackdbus 7201 and I'm unable to kill it. *google* $ jack_control --help Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/jack_control", line 12, in <module> import dbus ImportError: No module named dbus I tried QjackCtl, an app I won't use, if I don't need it, but if it would help, no prob, I'll launch it. Enabling DBus interface doesn't take effect. How do I set up jackdbus? $ ls .config/jack -hAl total 0 Any Wiki? http://www.google.de/#hl=de&cp=7&gs_id=17&xhr=t&q=jackdbus&pf=p&sclient=psy… I'm serious. I'll test it, but it's really not easy. Hi, I reopened the mentioned bug in bugzilla as I had exactly same problem.. Just found solution now - that happens when cups is not running. So sudo /etc/rc.d/cupsd restart solves the issue. Please ignore my reopen request and maybe add this solution to the bug just FTR. Bye -- Marek Otahal :o)

[arch-general] change in mount behaviour?

Hi all, i used to keep a folder in /media to serve as mountpoint if some manual mountis was needed. since some days, this folder disappeared, even if created again. is there any change in filesystems, kernel or whatsoever changing behavior there, is it intended (if so, why?) or a bug? every hint appreciated. georg

A few days ago it was announced that Fedora 17 will be merging several root directories into their /usr equivalents and using symlinks for compatibility. Hello All, this has been bothering me for some time, so just posting for wider audience. Facts, all applicable to rekonq and konqueror with webkit part - I have qtwebkit,kwebkitpart and rekonq installed - I am on youtube html5 demo trial. youtube.com/html5 reports support for webm and h.264 support - html5test.com reports video element support with MPEG-4/H.264/Ogg Theora/WebM. I have gstreamer phonon backend with most of the codecs installed. - youtube html5 video does not work. I get a progress bar but no video frames. example URL tested http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTA1MTQ as it has couple of youtube videos embedded - videos from vimeo.com does not play either. google isn't helpful. and there is no bug in arch linux bug db. [arch-general] Old pkgbuilds need to be removed from abs tree

I've noticed that /var/abs/extra still contains kdeutils and kdeaccessibility, with PKGBUILDs for the old 4.7.4 version. Those have been replaced in kde 4.8.0 with a set of packages kdeutils-* and kdeaccessibility-* The obsolete directories should be removed from abs/extra. I build all packages from source code on my system using my own set of scripts. For example a daily update is pacman -Qqu | order | unify | build --merge --edit --save so I'm the guy to notice garbage in the abs tree (my scripts read the PKGBUILDs in the abs tree and my own tree to build a database of dependencies, including make deps, providers, splits, and package groups). It has happened once in a while that an updated PKGBUILD doesn't show up in abs, or is missing files, without manual intervention on someone's part. I've filed bug reports against several such packages, which seem to mystify the package maintainer, who then tells some other guy that there is NO problem with his package, who apparently moves the missing stuff into abs and makes me happy. , It also happens as with kdeutils and kdeaccessibility, that an obsolete directory is not removed from abs. It seems that the process for syncing the abs tree to the master repository needs fixing. The ABS, providing the build scripts for all packages, is a key feature of Archlinux for me and I greatly appreciate the work required to make it available.
