Curious if these colorization effects are aware whether terminal pacman is running in has light or dark background and adjust accordingly - or do they rely on some other setting to accommodate? Thanks for any insight. Gene

Dear ArchGeneral List, First of all, congratulations for another brave step forward with the /*bin -> /usr/bin move. All my Arch boxes upgraded with no pain. But I've noticed that there has been some discussion about moving /usr/local/sbin -> /usr/local/bin. Beware! There are packages out there that are distributed as tarballs and install themselves on /usr/local. I don't know how frequent they are, but I've seen them. And if they happen to contain any file in /usr/local/sbin, when untarring, it will silently overwrite the symbolic link with the real directlry breaking any application that depends on it, and making future upgrades to `filesystem` impossible. Yes, it can be fixed simply running tar with the -h (--dereference) flag, but who will remember that? Just my 0.02€. Best regards. -- Rodrigo

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get my laptop backlight keys (fn+f6/f7) to adjust the brightness of my toshiba laptop backlight. Previously, I had entered the following in my /etc/acpi/handler.sh to handle the acpi events generated when those keys were pressed: video/brightnessdown) echo $(($(cat /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness) -1)) > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness ;; video/brightnessup) echo $(($(cat /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness) +1)) > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness ;; However, as I am working on migrating to systemd, acpid no longer runs and hence does not handle these events. Hello folks This is just a note so that you don't have to flag these packages unnecessarily: * ardour 3.1.10 is _not_ a source release It is a binary-only update from upstream. "The source code release remains unchanged (since translations are generated during the build process)." [1] :: Therefore extra/ardour 3.1-1 is current. * jack2 1.9.9.5 does not support mixed mode The 1.9.8 release is the last version of jack2 that supports the --mixed flag for direct 32-bit support on 64-bit. [2] A move to a traditional lib32 package is planned. :: Therefore community/jack2-multilib 1.9.8-4 is as current as possible. I have no idea why tainting behaviour seems to have changed with perl 5.18 (perldelta doesn't mention anything), but the only place I hit this problem was in spampd and there the variables were clearly tainted so I don't consider it a regression. If you are using that, please upgrade to the new version in AUR where I fixed those bugs. For more information about tainting please take a look at perlsec[1]. [arch-general] DKIM signed messages to mailing list - issue

Each time I send to the arch list I get a postmaster complaint about DKIM from postmaster(a)bctpe4hbiu.org My domain DKIM signs all mail - however my DKIM signature is passed through by the mail list package and of course now the message will fail DKIM check as the header has been modified and is no longer coming from my domain. I guess the list should remove incoming DKIM headers? gene
