Hi, the latest filesystem package now owns /home my /home used to be a symlink to some other location, so the upgrade failed. I "fixed" it for now by just linking my home folder into /home (since I'm running a single user setup it's fine) However I'm curious whether the directory should be left as it is, or if it's "allowed to play with" cheers

[arch-general] clamd.service very slow

Hello, I noticed that Clamd service is very slow on my computer. The booting process is very slow, too. When I run "systemd-analyze blame" after booting up I get something like "48.238s clamd.service". Why is clamd.service so slow? How can I increase the speed? Viktor

[arch-general] Severity of Failed checksum for PKGBUILD

Salutations, After trying to build the mpv-0.8.0-1 and finding that the PKGBUILD's checksum was incorrect, I filed a bug report. See <https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/43882?project=5&cat%5B0%5D=33&string=mpv>. I filed it under "critical" since an incorrect checksum means that the package was built from source that doesn't match upstream's source. I was told it's not a critical issue and it was downgraded to medium. I'm wondering why incorrect checksums aren't considered "critical". Regards, Mark

Hi, my firefox and seamonkey have been segfaulting for a month or so. Running the software with gdb produces the following errors: Firefox: Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x00007ffff7de6567 in _dl_relocate_object () from /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 Seamonkey: Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x00007ffff7de6567 in _dl_relocate_object () from /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 is owned by glibc 2.21-2. I have already tested the laptop ram with memtest86 and I got no errors. Deleting and creating new browser profiles in home does not change anything, too. Does anyone have the same problem? [arch-general] opendmarc / opendkim - suggestion

opendkim is in community repo. dmarc and dkim are now in broad use by the major internet mail companies (google, yahoo, microsoft, etc). If a maintainer is willing, it would makes sense to move opendmarc from AUR to community as well. For those who may not know, while dkim cryptographically validates the domain of the sender in email, dmarc takes the next step and validates that the domain in the From: header matches the dkim domain. It's simple but effective way to be comfortable that the sender domain is who it claims to be. Thanks. gene

After switching to Plasma 5 from KDE SC 4, I have a couple of small issue, and I wonder if anyone else already has a solution? 1) I'm using SDDM now, but even with KDE4, I was unable to get SDDM to actually launch a Plasma session. After entering my details, I get a black screen and no further activity. I have to switch to another console, log in, and invoke startx myself. 2) I used to have some global shortcuts for launching certain apps. I don't seem able to set these up any more. After setting a shortcut on a lancher in the panel (e.g. Firefox), nothing happens when I actually hit the shortcut combination. 3) Despite installing sni-qt, I'm getting no tray icon for my Telepathy IM contacts. 4) I'm not sure how to get my beloved comic widget back on my desktop :( Paul

I'd really like to NOT store anything via systemd-journald, in fact, I'd really like to systemctl disable systemd-journald and never be bothered by it again, so please don't tell me I should be just using systemd-journald ;) Regards, -Martin

I use symlinks for some directories (e.g. /srv/http and /var/spool/mail are sym links to dedicated disks) When i update the filesystem package I get this error: error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files) filesystem: /srv/http exists in filesystem filesystem: /var/spool/mail exists in filesystem Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded. What is the recommended way to deal with this? My version is: filesystem 2014.10-3 Trying to update to : filesystem-2015.02-1 in testing repo. Thanks. Gene
