Good morning, i realise this is not an Arch specific topic but hope you can help me here. I just acquired a Tenda Nova MW6 Mesh Wifi system and having troubles with the 2.4 GHz band. It was fine after initial setup, but after about an hour the printer is no longer able to connect (HP OfficeJet Pro 8620). My laptop (Thinkpad X201) connects but has issues with DNS. The Tenda system connects via LAN to my ISPs router and spans its own network with new subnet mask. I can ping my router and access it's management site with the IP address from a browser but not by it's web address (speedport.ip). My ISP router is a Speedport W 724V from Deutsche Telekom. Any ideas where I need to look at? Thanks Frank

[arch-general] Firefox "stalling" behaviour

Hi, I'd really like to use the Firefox browser (currently using Iridium), but I'm seeing a strange behavior where it "stalls" intermittently. The rendering engine seems to randomly pause activity (i.e. not responsive to scrolling input), and these pauses can last for several seconds. It also appears to affect video playback. I haven't knowingly done anything with my user settings that would cause this to happen; I have a few add-ons, but they should all be well-behaved (1PasswordX, Facebook Container, Multi-account Container, uBlock Origin). Has anyone seen this and figured out a solution? Thanks, Paul

[arch-general] Firefox-71.0-1 breaks WhatsApp Web

After the update I can't seem to load WhatsApp Web. If I already logged in (using the QR code) it just doesn't load and eventually displays the 'connecting to WhatsApp' message which typically happens when the phone is offline. If I haven't logged in it will try to load the QR code for authentication and wait for that forever. The console shows the following:- Content Security Policy: Directive ‘child-src’ has been deprecated. Please use directive ‘worker-src’ to control workers, or directive ‘frame-src’ to control frames respectively. Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at wss:// web.whatsapp.com/ws. app.fff9477f997fa1246faf.js:2:783554 Chromium on the same machine has no such issues.

All, Just a note to anyone running bind-9 for name resolution, the old configs containing root.hints now results in named failing to start with: Dec 06 14:53:02 phoinix named[455]: could not configure root hints from 'root.hint': file not found Dec 06 14:53:02 phoinix named[455]: loading configuration: file not found Dec 06 14:53:02 phoinix named[455]: exiting (due to fatal error) The solution is just to comment out the old dummy zone relying on root.hints (I'm sure I recall a note about this some time about, but now it is official). (nb - I did post this question also on Reddit) So I decided to replace my aging ASUS laptop with a shiny new one. After long considerations and lurking in various places I decided to go for this - not very cheap - one. One of the reasons is that I this time intend not to remove Windows and keep the possibility to occasionally boot into Windows, My long experience (> 40 years with various kinds of ***x such as Unix, Ultrix and Linux) doesnt prevent me from encountering a challenge now and then. Maybe I am getting too old ? :) Anyway - the challenge: I seem not to be able to get Wifi working when booted from the Arch installation image. Wifi works fine with Windows, but also with the live image of Ubuntu 19.10. Also Manjoro doesnt see wifi when starting 'wifi-menu'. However, just as in Ubuntu, the driver 'iwlwifi' has been loaded... (The wifi in this laptop is Intel) I would love to get some pointers what to change to get this working, otherwise Ill return the laptop and look for a more cooperating one. Thanks a lot in advance.
