It's a desktop PC having UEFI firmware, with CSM disabled, secure boot disabled and fast boot off. The same result is obtained while booting from an internal DVD drive and from a USB stick. Noise and lights from the devices suggest that the booting process is completing without updating the display; that's just a guess however. I could boot from 202011 on DVD, and from 201907 from a USB stick. It may be host dependent; reporting FYI, if it could ever be reproduced and eventually fixed. Regards.

Hello, I see that many packages from official repositories have "appstream-glib" (or the provided "appdata-tools") in the makedepends array, instead of checkdepends. In my experience, this package is needed for "/usr/bin/appstream-util" binary to validate appstream files, which only happens when testing in the check() function. Is there a valid reason for not moving 'appstream-glib' or 'appdata-tools' to the checkdepends array? https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/appstream-glib/ Best regards, Rafael Fontenelle

do the elvi's need rewriting? I installed the package according to wiki directions the way I usually install it and am getting on the duckduckgo elvi line 488 file not found error when I give duckduckgo a search term.

The above is with ldns 1.7.1-2. To the best of my knowledge, the same command just aborts, without a core dump, with the old Debian ldnsutils 1.7.0-4. -- u34

Hello archers . I want do a custom localization I am using cli on some applications . like neomutt for emails . my localization on /etc/locale.conf is LANG=el_GR.UTF-8 the time is 12 hour format When I compose email on neomutt it showing the 12hour format and the πμ (am ) and μμ (pm) I tried to add LC_TIME=en_DK.UTF-8 on /etc/locale.conf . but the Greek characters on neomutt wasn't showing and instead greek characters showing with questionmarks . Is there any way to make the time fomart to be 24 hour and how I will do that and in neomutt showing the greek characters ? [arch-general] aom upgrade brakes funktionality of several video applications

Hi archers, after one of the last upgrades aom was upgraded to version 3.0.0 several applications stopped working (properly). I'm not able to play videos in my firefox browser (ok. this one ist from mozilla). chromium and jami not starting at all, gnome-mplayer stops playing videos, handbrake is complains not finding gstreamer plugin for h264 and so forth. Downgrading to version 2.0.2 makes everything running as expected. Anyone else seeing alike? I filed a bug: https://bugs.archlinux.org/index.php?do=details&task_id=70411 which was closed immediately. Hello, I am having a weird issue with libesmtp : it does not use TLS, confirmed by wireshark sniffing. The ASP repo was pulled, and here is the result of ./configure --prefix=/usr : ************************* *** libESMTP features *** ************************* --with-auth-plugin-dir: /usr/lib/esmtp-plugins --with-lwres: no --with-openssl: no --enable-pthreads: yes --enable-etrn: no --enable-ntlm: no --enable-chunking: yes --enable-xusr: yes --enable-nsauth: yes --enable-debug: no After examining config.log, the conftest.c program, generated by configure, failed to compile : #ifdef __cplusplus extern "C" #endif char SSL_library_init (); int main () { return SSL_library_init (); ; return 0; } By including <openssl/ssl.h> before int main(), conftest.c does compile. Talking to an SMTP server without TLS is obviously not an option. How can this be fixed ? A patch by the package maintainer ? Reporting to upstream ? (Seems to be fedora here) Regards.
