[arch-general] Unstable/Unusably slow Wi-Fi connection with systemd-networkd/wpa_supplicant

Hi, I was using Wicd until a couple of weeks without problems, but because it's been out of repos for a while and generally not maintained/developed anymore I decided to make the switch and start using systemd-networkd. The machine is a laptop Dell XPS 15 L502X (Sandy Bridge) with: 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 1030 [Rainbow Peak] (rev 34) I followed the Arch Wiki without problems and wired connection seems to be working flawlessly. But Wi-Fi is unstable and slow at the point of unusability. I posted on the forums[0] for help but didn't get any until now, so I'm letting the link here just in case someone can give me any hint. In the forum's post I informed the output of terminal, networkctl and wpa_cli status, dmesg, journalctl, etc. Please let me know if I should put the details here (didn't did it just to not make mail extremely long, hope I'm not doing wrong) or add anything else. [arch-general] IPv6 fast address rotation with systemd-networkd 249rc2-1 in [testing]

Hi I'm having an issue with IPv6 connectivity since systemd-networkd 249rc2-1 from [testing]. I noticed SSH sessions (all IPv6) locking up every few minutes, and after some digging it turns out to be due to very fast IPv6 temporary address rotation, making any long-lived SSH session impossible. I'm using systemd-network for network configuration, and downgrading systemd to 248 and rebooting fixed the issue. After upgrading again, but not rebooting, just restarting systemd-networkd introduces the issue again. So it's clearly a systemd-networkd introduced issue. Anyone else seeing this? Geert

[arch-general] i3wm dual monitor freeze containers primary

Hi, I'm probing archlinux with i3wm tiling window manager. I love it! I come archlinux + kde desktop. I have a dell xps 13' model 9370. I have a problem when work with two monitors. The primary monitor (laptop) freeze any open container (terminal, program...) randomly in workspace. This only occur in laptop screen. Something like this: # Screenshot https://imgur.com/a/LvOsKIe # Video https://imgur.com/a/veuSM33 My xrandr config is: xrandr --output eDP1 --primary --mode 1920x1080 --pos 3440x360 --rotate normal --output DP1 --mode 3440x1440 --pos 0x0 --rotate normal --output DP2 --off --output HDMI1 --off --output HDMI2 --off --output VIRTUAL1 --off I try all, debug i3wm with i3-dump-log, and search in google but I can't find the problem. The workspace freeze and cannot kill containers. The only things is restart lightdm ... My i3config is very basic.

[arch-general] pkg rfc need to be updated?

Hi, all a& Yan the pkg 'rfc' is a great thing. But it has not update since Wed Jul 8 00:57:57 2020. I had checked the build script and found that there is a script 'mirror-to-arch.sh' to download the data and the index from https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc, that site is updated. Do you think the archlinux should be update with the original info source ? thanks!

[arch-general] AMDGPU does not show consider external DisplayPort monitors on PRIME laptop

Hi all, I thought it would be easier to ask here first; if I should open a bug report on the Arch or any other tracker, I can definetely do so. I have an ASUS laptop with a Ryzen 4800H and a Geforce RTX 2060 Mobile. All is good, except the support of external monitors via DisplayPort. While previously I used HDMI via a single monitor, I finally took from my workplace my working monitors and connected them in daisy chain and connected the laptop to them via USB-C to USB-C. The whole setup works on Windows, but on Linux I cannot make it work when using the AMDGPU driver. I tried disabling it and using the NVIDIA one via `optimus-manager` and the latter can easily detect and handle all the monitors. The weird fact is that DisplayPort partially works with AMDGPU, as I am able to use my mouse and headset connected to the monitor but I cannot detect any monitor to display images. I honestly have no clue why this problem sussists. I need and would like some tips for investigating the issue and reporting where necessary. Thanks in advance. Bests, Giovanni

It turns out installing archlinux-keyring fixed this problem. I wasn't aware that package was missing from this system.

I emailed both maintainers 10 days ago, reminding them the package has been out of date for 184 days, is 9 versions out of date, and has an outdated upstream URL. I got no response. This lack of response, combined with the mentioned lack of updates, indicates the package is abandoned. Sorry if this is the wrong mailing list, I made a bug report, and I was then told to use the mailing list. https://archlinux.org/packages/community/x86_64/anki/

Pacman could do with a feature to bypass authors packages and keys so those don't disrupt updates.

[arch-general] No menu icons on XFCE4 desktop

Hello, since I've not updated my system since some weeks, I thought it would be a good time to do so - with two results: 1. My desktop theme changed. 2. The menu icons have gone. Well, while the first is not a real problem (I should be able to find an appropriate icon theme, but I'll look for that later), I don't know why the menu icons have gone, so I don't know where to start searching for a solution. I even didn't find something related when search the internet. :-/ However, I found two sub-folders in /usr/share/icons/Adwaita for gtk-2.0 and gtk-3.0, but only the first one contains any assets - maybe that's the problem? Any idea? Kind regards Peter
