In broad software selections, neither general works nor multimedia. These two error out and install nothing hardinfo for general isn't found and easyscreencapture in multimedia is not found either. That may explain why orca never came up talking after I installed a mate desktop and I had no option to run without a desktop either. That's the situation with the iso I have. Either verizon throttling or a hardware error prevents isos from verifying once downloaded so I use what isos I have here until these problems can be fixed. php-legacy migration leaves startup warnings for php on migrated modules - ignore?

All, For nextcloud, etc. the install recommends php-legacy (8.1) and provides a brief synopsis for migration to php-legacy. That works, but then any app calling php instead of php-legacy will receive startup warnings for modules moved to php-legacy. (I still have some apps as well as test code that users php on the command line) I could always just disable the startup warnings completely for php -- but is there a better way? For example: $ php-legacy <<< "<?php phpinfo(); ?>" | sed -n '2p' PHP Version => 8.1.18 (all good) $ php <<< "<?php phpinfo(); ?>" | sed -n '2p' PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'pdo_pgsql' (tried: /usr/lib/php/modules/pdo_pgsql ... PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'pgsql' (tried: /usr/lib/php/modules/pgsql (/usr/lib/php/modules/pgsql ... PHP Version => 8.2.6 (versions of modules migrated to php-legacy) Is there no way to leave both installed and not confuse nextcloud? If not, then disabling the php modules is fine and only having the php-legacy versions installed will just necessitate disabling the migrated modules and not having the ability to work with both. What are you doing to run a Windows 11 guest on Arch Linux in Virtualbox?

Hi, to run Windows 11 as Virtualbox guest I build Virtualbox < version 7. My current installed virtualbox was build against python 3.10.10-1. Today building against python 3.11.3-1 failed with "Checking for Python support: ** Python not found!". I can still start a Windows 11 guest with virtualbox build against python 3.10.10-1 on the machine that is updated to python 3.11.3-1. Maybe I don't need to do this, but soon or later I at least need to build against another dependency and then python is involved, too. Perhaps just adding python3.11 to configure's SUPPYTHONLIBS already does the job to build virtualbox, without fixing something else. If so, the end of building virtualbox < version 7 to run Windows 11 guests is still close. What are you doing to run a Windows 11 guest? Regards, Ralf

Python 3.11 timeline?

Anyone know if there's any timeline on when we'll see python 3.11 get released to Arch? I emailed the maintainer about this directly recently, but didn't hear anything back. I know this is a big upgrade, and lots of dependent packages are involved, so this might require some time. I just was wondering if there was any roadmap/timeline for how long that might be. ttf-nerd-fonts conflict

Hi, there's a ttf-nerd-fonts conflict, one package removes the other package. One of the packages is flagged out-of-date, so I guess I shouldn't report a bug. However, it's a little bit annoying that I need to add ttf-nerd-fonts-symbols-2048-em to IgnorePkg. "Do NOT report bugs when a package is just outdated, or it is in the AUR.
