after last kernel update my ethernet over firewire doesn't work any more. Module, firewire_net, is correctly loaded and new interface firewire0 shows up. I can ping other hosts but I can not establish any connections (http, irc, anything).

if you can ping, the drivers should be fine. Check ping with different packet sizes up-to the MTU. -- damjan
