Whatever may be the outcome of this particular debate, I do
respectfully suggest that it would be a retrograde step to
take discussion of these issues (even heated discussion),
out of the public domain. Many of your users care about
such issues. Even if we do not all have the technical
competence to contribute to every argument, we learn from
reading what the devs have to say. Sometimes harsh things
are said in the heat of the moment, but surely every
user/developer of open source projects understands how to
make allowance for that.
