black windows: simple-scan and pavucontrol, and i had to revert
to older packages to make them work again. Are those phenomena
related?

Hi,

you might have to install adwaita-icon-theme-legacy to get missing
icons back.

André, this package anyway has been installed the 16th of September by a general update, and it did not change anything.
