Both the rss feed and arch-announce have this behavior. I guess the program that sends mail to arch-announce just follows the newsfeed as well.
The URLs for all news items changed, so your news feed probably saw this and thought the items were new. I'm not sure why Django uses the URL as a guid, but this should be a one-time occurrance. -Dan
