No, I guess not, /usr is for vendor-supplied stuff. /opt is for personal stuff. That is the conflict.

"Personal" stuff was in /usr/local ;).
Special stuff still is in /opt, e.g. /media/avlinux/opt/Ardour-3.0beta1a_10644-dbg
