I don't use it, but my understanding is "very stable". If you're having issues, I'd bet it's something about your configuration.

I need to move from KDE3 to Gnome until KDE4 is finished and debugged.

FYI - you don't *have* to use GNOME if you don't want to. There's an external project that still maintains working KDE3 packages for Arch: http://chakra-project.org/download-kdemod3.html HTH, DR
