[arch-general] can't 'pacman -Syu' to xorgproto 2019.2-2
hi. today i can't do a "pacman -Syu", and i'm still too much of a newbie to know how to approach this. i'll be grateful for any advice. the following message was mentioned recently, and maybe relates? ---- https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/64892 ---- cheers, Greg ---- {812} % sudo pacman -Syu :: Synchronizing package databases... core is up to date extra is up to date community is up to date :: Starting full system upgrade... resolving dependencies... looking for conflicting packages... error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies) :: installing xorgproto (2019.2-2) breaks dependency 'xf86miscproto' required by libxxf86misc
Did you check the news yet? I think xf86miscproto was listed there. https://www.archlinux.org/news/xorg-cleanup-requires-manual-intervention/ cheers! mar77i Sent with ProtonMail Secure Email.
mar77i, no, i hadn't seen (or paid sufficient attention to) that message. and, that seems to get me past the dependency problem. thanks very much. cheers, Greg

I find it useful to be subscribed to the Arch Announce mailing list. It has low traffic with news items about upgrading, such as for the issue above.
thanks -- now subscribing.
