[arch-general] Maybe bug in glibc
Hi, my firefox and seamonkey have been segfaulting for a month or so. Running the software with gdb produces the following errors: Firefox: Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x00007ffff7de6567 in _dl_relocate_object () from /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 Seamonkey: Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x00007ffff7de6567 in _dl_relocate_object () from /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 is owned by glibc 2.21-2. I have already tested the laptop ram with memtest86 and I got no errors. Deleting and creating new browser profiles in home does not change anything, too. Does anyone have the same problem? Recompile glib and then provide more meaningful backtrace (all the functions in the stack and its parameters) for your error.

Recompile glib and then provide more meaningful backtrace (all the functions in the stack and its parameters) for your error.
This is the entire stack:

You did *not* recompile glibc with debug symbols enabled. The stack is still not very useful. I remember similar glibc bug https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/38069 but it should be fixed in 2.21. Make sure your system is up-to-date.

Is that sufficient?

You can use '-ggdb -fvar-tracking-assignments -fno-omit-frame-pointer', although with -g instead of -ggdb if it wouldn't be meant for GDB only. If you're compiling with makepkg I think the glibc package requires special handling with regards to stripping of debugging symbols, you may need to read up on that on the Wiki.

Hi,
my firefox and seamonkey have been segfaulting for a month or so.

Looks like your crash is related to loading the flash plug-in. Have you tried disabling it?

The problem with opening file /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so. Maybe it is corrupted? Try to reinstall package "flashplugin".

Ok, I deleted that file and now it works perfectly. Normally it should not be there, I think, cause I deinstalled the flashplayer using pacman. Thanks for helping me! -- Jabber: thorres@deshalbfrei.org PGP/GnuPG: 0x326F6D7B
