Hi, Ctl+Alt+F7 fails! I need to restart the machine. $ pacman -Q linux linux 6.10.7.arch1-1 2fucktor auth fails as well ;), hence I cannot provide a bug report. I was able to log in https://gitlab.archlinux.org/ a few hours ago. I've had enough by now! I cannot report the issue against the bug tracker, maybe somebody is willing to care about the issue here. Consider to stop this 2fucktor auth crap! Regards, Ralf

+1 Or at least get one that works and one that provides at least a 60 SECOND TIMEOUT for the code. It is damn near impossible to juggle 2 devices watch the countdown, read/remember the code, switch to another keyboard, type in the code (gods forbid you make a typo rushing), to open an account in 30 seconds (or whatever remains after you actually get to look at the code) tick... tick... tick... tick... It only gets worse the closer I get to 60... 30 seconds is a pipe-dream created by the "kids with crayons" that use the same tiny-a.. device for the code and the account. -- David C. I apologise for my choice of words. I'm frustrated because I have to click on bridges, traffic lights and motorbikes all the time, take calls on the landline in which spoken SMS tell me a code or I have to copy a code from an email that comes to me after the code has expired, I have to scan QR codes and copy a code or use an auth app for gitlab.archlinux.org and for my employer's stuff I have to renew the password and learn by heart the new password every 180 days. I was able to log in to gitlab.archlinux.org to report https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/haruna/-/issues/1 and a little bit later (I installed the kernel from testing) authentication to log in again failed.

There's no issue to create, ctl-alt-f7 isn't supposed to just magically do anything specific, and you haven't actually shown an issue at all. Maybe take a step back and put together a coherent thought before sending emails like this?

Hi, since updating the kernel from 6.10.6.arch1-1 to 6.10.7.arch1-1 followed by a restart, I'm unable to get back from Ctrl+Alt+F2 tty2 to the graphic session with Ctrl+Alt+Fn, n = 0 to 9. As long as I didn't log in as user or root I can still go back by pushing Ctrl+Alt+F7, but if I log in, then with or without exit Ctrl+Alt+F7 doesn't work anymore, I need to restart the machine with Ctrl+Alt+Del. Regards, Ralf

Is your display manager still active when that happens ? I have that too sometimes with LightDM though with kernel 6.10.6.arch1-1. Regards, ~Zerro

Hi, the problem seems to occur completely randomly. I'm using lightdm, but I don't know if it was running when the issue happened. I wonder if it's related to https://lists.archlinux.org/archives/list/arch-general@lists.archlinux.org/t... I updated my bug report: https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/linux/-/issues/75#... Regards, Ralf

When you say "it doesn't work" what do you mean exactly? Pressing ctrl+alt+f7 takes you to a black screen with a blinking cursor, or does it take you to the graphical display manager but you are not able to successfully login? Does the mouse cursor move, e.g.? It is possible that your X or Wayland server has fallen on its face ps xua | awk '/Xorg|Xway/' Any thing useful in journalctl / dmesg? Thank you

If I switch to tty2 by Ctrl+Alt+F2 and do not log in, then I can switch back to the graphical X session by Ctrl+Alt+F7. If I log in as root or as user I neither can switch back directly, nor can I do so after executing exit. If I press Ctrl+Alt+F7 it happens absolutely nothing. It just stays in tty2. I can't see anything important by the log files. At the moment the issue doesn't happen, Ctrl+Alt+F7 does work as expected. It seems to happen randomly after a reboot. If it's okay after a reboot, then it seems to stay that way. • rocketmouse@archlinux ~ $ journalctl -b -1 [snip] Aug 31 08:07:29 archlinux login[1903]: ROOT LOGIN ON tty2 Aug 31 08:07:29 archlinux systemd[1910]: Finished Update XDG user dir configuration.
